Meet Our Specialist

As an clinical Occupational Therapist, Archana’s philosophy is reflective of her education, work experience, and first hand clinical interactions. She has been working as a Registered Occupational Therapist since 2001.

She is a post graduate of Brighton University , and received her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the same. She has a wealth of clinical, teaching, and experience that has informed and influenced her philosophy, approach, and practice. Archana has worked as a clinical OT in a head injury facility, an acute and rehabilitation facility for stroke, as an advanced OT practitioner in elderly medicine for the N.H.S, and a therapist in a regional neuro medical and neurosurgical N.H.S hospital. Her hands on caregiving experiences include providing direct care in community and rehabilitation centers, day programming sites, home settings, assisted living communities, long term rehabilitation facilities, out-patient clinics, hospitals, schools and rehabilitation settings.

Archana has had clinical appointments with certain major teaching hospitals across the U.K. Previously, she served as an advanced OT practitioner and fieldwork placement educator for a teaching hospital in London and the South East of England. She has helped set up an Occupational therapy acute stroke unit at a London hospital. Archana started off her career working in outpatient pediatric clinics dealing with children who had gross motor, fine motor, cognitive and sensory processing difficulties and in both outpatient and community settings.

Archana’s care strategies & techniques integrate what is known about brain function and changes that happen with neurological conditions with therapeutic approaches to foster functional outcomes, modified environmental supports, and altered task expectations that match retained or available abilities of people living with some form of neurological illness.

Archana has lectured in Occupational Therapy about the value of compensating for cognitive-perceptual, physical functions after stroke, brain injury and other neurological functions. Her teaching style is extraordinarily unique in that she is able to accurately demonstrate and model for her students, and audience the struggle and challenges neurological illness creates for all parties involved. She is an enlightening, witty, entertaining, and energetic speaker. Archana has made it her personal mission to help families and professionals better understand how it feels to be living with the challenges and changes that accompany various forms of general medical , neurological conditions so that life can be lived fully and well.

Archana also holds a master of Public health degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine. She has developed and rolled out health education programs for populations with chronic diseases at grass roots level.
